Origin: France

Date: ca. 1890-1895

This rare large cabriolet fan is made of beautifully carved, black gold painted wooden sticks and 2 single black silk leaves with fine French machine-made lace borders. The leaves are arranged in 2 tiers. The upper leaf is handpainted with flowers and butterflies. The lower leaf is handpainted with foliage and 3 bees.

Length: 13.75" (35.5 cm) Width: 26.5" (67 cm)

The fan comes in an unlabelled black paper covered cardboard box.

Condition: Excellent (see photos). One inner stick (8th from the left, centre between the 2 leaves) is missing a small section on the left and right, but this happened at or prior to assembly, as the break surfaces are painted black and gold too (obviously, the manufacturer compromised here).

Price: SOLD
