Date: ca. 1895

This very large fan is made of plain tortoiseshell sticks and a single black silk leaf with French machine-made black Chantilly lace border and insert. The front of the leaf is handpainted with three types of birds. The leaf is signed F. DEVAL.

Length: 13.75" (35 cm) Width: 26.5" (67 cm)

The fan comes in its original labelled cardboard box. The fan was made by Duvelleroy or a similar maker of high quality fans, but was retailed by John T. Anderson & Co, Stationers, 62 King Street, Manchester.

Condition: The fan is in perfect condition. The box lid has split slightly on one side, otherwise it is very good (see photos).
