Date: ca. 1895

This large fan is made of beautiful white mother-of-pearl sticks and a single cream/ivory coloured French needle lace leaf (possibly point d'Alençon) with a large black silk insert. The front of the leaf is handpainted with a reclining lady in flowing garments and 3 putti. The leaf is not signed. 

Length: 12" (31 cm) Width: 23" (59 cm)

The fan comes in its original Duvelleroy (Regent Street, London) labelled satin covered cardboard box.

Condition: Excellent, but with very light stains on the lace near the right guardstick and minor rubbing of the paint in the raised leaf folds (see photos).
