"La Tauromachie - La Corrida - The Bullfight" 

Origin: Spain or France for the Spanish Market

Date: 1850-1865

This fan is made of carved and pierced boxwood sticks and a double handcoloured lithograph leaf. The sticks are beautifully carved with flowers. Both sides of the leaf show dramatic and colourful bullfighting scenes. The ladies wear gowns that are very typical for the period. The front leaf is initialed by the engraver "AJ". The carrying loop has a small ormolu bow and a pink tassel attached to it.

Length: 10.5" (27 cm) Width: 19.75" (50 cm)

Condition: Very good, with some loght brown stains on the far left and right sides of the leaf and thinning of the tassel fringe (see photos).
