Date: 1893-1895

This large fan is made of very rare and beautiful white serpentine mother-of-pearl sticks and a single ivory coloured silk leaf with a broad machine-made needle lace border (white Chantilly-style). The front of the leaf is handpainted with a young ladyin a pink dress watering flowers in a garden. The leaf is signed "E. MERLIN".

Length: 13" (33.5 cm) Width: 24.25" (61.5 cm)

The fan comes in its original Frederik Penberthy (390, 392, Oxford Street, Londres) labelled cardboard box.

Condition: Excellent, but with a break in the net of the lace on the top right side, a tiny break in the net of the lace on the far left side (see last 2 photos) and three similar tiny breaks in the net on the far right side (2nd fold).
