Origin: France

Date: ca. 1925

This rare asymmetrical green ombré coloured large Art Deco flapper fan (typically these fans have sticks of uneven numbers e.g. 3, 5, 7, 9,etc., as opposed to the much wider Victorian and Edwardian Ostrich feather fans) is made of genuine tortoiseshell sticks and very large Ostrich feathers. The feathers are graduated in colour from left to right from a very pale green to a vivid mid-green colour.

Such flapper fans were depicted by the famous illustrator George Barbier in fashion plate entitled "Eventails" in 1924 (see last photo).

This high quality fan was almost certainly made by Duvelleroy, Paris. The style is certainly theirs.

Length: 23" (59 cm) Width: 20.5" (52 cm)

Condition: Very good, with ever so slight wear on the edges of the feathers (just mentioned for 100% accuracy).
