Date: ca. 1925

This very large typical flapper fan (typically these fans have sticks of uneven numbers e.g. 3, 5, 7, 9,etc., as opposed to the much wider Victorian and Edwardian Ostrich feather fans) is made of celluloid sticks that are made to imitate tortoiseshell and very large black Ostrich feathers.

Such flapper fans were depicted by the famous illustrator George Barbier in fashion plate entitled "Eventails" in 1924 (see last photo).
