Origin: France

Date: ca. 1900

I strongly suspect that this fabulous and rather larger Art Nouvau fan was made by Duvelleroy or a similar high quality French fanmaker, but it comes in a box with a British retailer's label. The fan is made of plain tortoiseshell sticks and a single black net leaf with off-white (light cream) coloured Brussels bobbin lace appliqués that are covered with steel sequins and spangles. The lace shows various sizes of flowers and foliage.

Length: 10.75" (27 cm) Width: 19" (48.5 cm)

The fan comes in its original black satin covered wooden box and was retailed by "B. Finnigan, 123 Deansgate, Manchester", but I strongly suspect that it was made by Duvelleroy or a similar high quality French fanmaker.

Condition: Very good, but one inner stick has a break on the tip (see photos). Sadly, many sequins/spangles have rust stains, so the fan does not sparkle as much as it used to (see photos).

Price: SOLD

(including packaging & shipping via Registered, Insured & Tracked Airmail)
