"Souvenir of Switzerland"

Origin: France

Date: ca. 1910

This rare fan is made of plain brown wooden sticks and a double paper leaf. The front leaf is handpainted in water colour and/or gouache with an eagle in flight over a typical Swiss landscape (forest on the left, a village on the right and the snow covered Alps in the background). The eagle carries several clocks, a pocket watch and what appears to be a fondue? fork. The reverse leaf is plain beige/light brown in colour.

Length: 8.5" (21.5 cm) Width: 15.75" (40 cm)

Condition: Very good, but with a tiny (4mm separation in one fold on the top edge), some age stains on the leaf and very minor wear on the outer folds (see photos).
