Origin: France

Date: ca. 1925

This rare green coloured large Art Deco flapper fan (typically these fans have sticks of uneven numbers e.g. 3, 5, 7, 9,etc., as opposed to the much wider Victorian and Edwardian Ostrich feather fans) is made of genuine tortoiseshell sticks and very large Ostrich feathers. The feathers are a bright green colour and were artificially curled at the tips.

Such flapper fans were depicted by the famous illustrator George Barbier in fashion plate entitled "Eventails" in 1924 (see last photo).

This high quality fan was almost certainly made by Duvelleroy, Paris. The style is certainly theirs.
