Origin: Austria

Date: ca. 1905

This rare and very, very beautiful small fan is made of plain tortoiseshell sticks and thousands of small white and black striped blue feathers from the Eurasian Jay (Garrulus glandarius). Since the Eurasian Jay only has a handful of these feathers on their wings, one can only imagine how many birds were needed to complete the fan. The right guardstick has the name "MAY" mounted on it in gold. The silk tassel is original.

Length: 7.5" (19 cm) Width: 11.25" (29 cm)

The fan comes in its original lidded cardboard box.

Condition: Excellent, no faults (new ribbon). Minor wear on the outside of the cardboard box.

Price: £380

(including packaging & shipping via Registered, Insured & Tracked Airmail)
