Date: ca. 1895/1900

This beautiful fan is a marriage of a set of 18th century sticks and a late 19th century leaf created by Faucon, Paris (probably custom made as a wedding fan). The fan is made of original 18th century carved and pierced bone or ivory sticks (the silver and gold paint was applied by Faucon) and silk white/ivory coloured silk leaf. The front leaf is exquisitely handpainted in  18th century taste with small pink roses that suround small oval shaped cut-outs that have been backed/filled with white net. Each oval is surrounded by gold coloured sequins.

Length: 10.75" (27 cm) Width: 20" (50.5 cm)

The fan comes in its original brocaded wooden box that bears the FAUCON, PARIS label on the inside of the lid.

Condition: Fan=Very good, but with two repaired folds (they are stable now - images of back and front) and several small tea? stains and associated edge wear on the lower leaf edge (see last photo). Box= Excellent, but the right closing hook is missing.
