This large 18th century fan is made of carved and pierced sticks and a fine light cream coloured vellum leaf. The front of the fan is handpainted with a romantic scene involving a serenading gentleman presenting a seated lady with a basket of flowers. The reserves depict a windmill and a large building, and plenty of colourful flowers. The reverse shows flowers in the centre.

Length: 10.75″ (27.5 cm) Width: 19.75″ (50 cm)

Condition: Excellent, usable condition with very minor discolouration and slight bending of one stick commensurate with age (I suspect that this fan spent some time in a frame).
