This beautiful Ostrich feather flapper fan was made France, probably by Duvelleroy, for a debutante. It is similar in style to the fans shown in the fashion plates which date to 1920 and 1923, respectively. Such “shorter” fans always have an uneven number of sticks (e.g. 3, 5, 7 etc)Â and were often worn on the occasion of presentation at Court together with a net veil with 3 Ostrich feathers arranged in a Prince of Wales plume. The effect is stunning.
