A very typical 1920s Art Deco Era flapper girl’s celluloid brise fan. This fan is made of cream coloured celluloid blades that are connected via the original cotton ribbon. The front of the fan is handpainted with a dancing couple dressed in 18th century clothing.

Description

This type of fan was very popular in the 1920s with flapper girls, who took them to the clubs for dances. A string, necklace or bracelet could be attached to the loop and the fan could worn around the neck or on the wrist. It also fitted in to a pocket or purse.
This fan is made of cream coloured celluloid blades that are connected via the original cotton ribbon. The front of the fan is handpainted with a dancing couple dressed in 18th century clothing – a very typical motif on Art Deco Era fans.
