Date: 1895-1905
This fan was probably a gift for a young lady who was about to enter society. It is made of beautiful, green dyed goldfish mother of pearl sticks and a single paper leaf with the appearance of vellum. The sticks show flowers and foliage in silver and gold. The leaf is hand painted with a central scene of a flower seller and 3 gentlemen, all dressed in late 18th century costume. The leaf is also adorned with tiny gold and green coloured sequins.
This fan comes in its original matching green, silk lined cardboard box.

Condition: Very good condition with discreet repairs to three sticks (see photos). The leaf is perfect, as is the box.
