Large Victorian Blonde Horn Fan


Large mid-19th century fan made of carved and gilded blonde horn sticks and a hand coloured lithograph leaf showing romantic picnic scenes.

Date: 1850-1860

This large mid-19th century fan is made of carved and gilded (applied gilded silver foil) blonde horn sticks and a double paper leaf. Both sides show handcoloured lithographs of romantic picnic scenes. The reserves show gold coloured scrolls.

Length: 10.5″ (27 cm) Width: 19.5″ (50 cm)

Condition: Excellent, usable, with minor wear commensurate with age. This fan may have spent some time in a frame at some point in its life.
