Origin: Spain

Date: 1850-1865

This large mid-19th century fan is made of lacquered and painted wooden sticks and a double paper leaf. The sticks are painted with flowers and a central lakescape. The front leaf shows a handcoloured lithograph of couples in 18th century dress dancing in a garden. The reserves are printed with fountains? set amid gardens, all in blues and yellow colours. The reverse leaf is purple in colour and bears a single lithograph in the centre showing a young lady playing a hurdy gurdy while another is dancing. The fan still has its original silk tassel attached.

Condition: Excellent, usable, condition with minor wear commensurate with age.
