Date: 1850-1870 (Qing Dynasty – 中国扇清朝)
This large, classic Cantonese export fan is made of tortoiseshell sticks and handpainted goose feathers with marabou feather tips. The front of the fan is painted with a pomegranate, a pair of green parakeets, peonies and other flowers. The reverse shows more peonies and flowers. The colours are still very vivid and the fan still retains its original tassel.
