This large mid-19th century palmette (Jenny Lind) fan is made of carved and pierced wooden (boxwood?) sticks and individual, cream coloured double silk leaf shapes. The front of the leaves is handpainted with colourful flowers (roses, forget-me-not, fuchsias etc). The tips of the individual leaves have wispy marabou feathers attached. The matching cream coloured silk ribbon attached to the shaped brass loop is believed to be original.

Length: 10.75″ (27.5 cm) Width: 20.25″ (51.5 cm) (excluding the feather tips)

Condition: Excellent condition, just a few missing marabou feather tips. Very few silk examples of this type survive in such great condition.
